Patani Bridge
A 850 m long bridge along
East-West Road crossing
Forcados river near Patani
village in Delta State,
Nigeria.
The Bridge consists of 95 m long
spans with a total length of 850 m.
The bridge’s substructure rests
on Ø1300mm bored piles where
barges were used for Axis in water.
The bridge’s superstructure consists
of a continuous box girder section.
Balanced cantilever erection of precast
segments was used for the long
spans as access beneath the deck
was difficult.
Due to the required number of
segments a pre-casting yard
dedicated only to this project was
installed. The casting yard spanned
over an area of 95,000 m2.
Match casting technique was used
to ensure severe geometry control.
