Road Superintendent

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Interpret and comply with all Company personnel policies, contracts or agreements, and Country State and Federal regulations.

  • Carry out plans for maintenance and construction of all roads, highways and related facilities.
  • Carry out a regular maintenance schedule for all equipment within the project.
  • Work with Management in developing the budget, and review& approve project expenditures as required.
  • Maintain liaison with other departments and State agencies, to work toward the efficient use of personnel, equipment and other resources.
  • Develop safety programs, and take individual responsibility for working in a safe manner and in adhering to the Town’s safety policies.
  • Supervise the project personnel to achieve top quality workmanship along with employee job satisfaction and high morale.
  • Maintain awareness of all weather conditions and provide provisions for necessary extra maintenance.
  • Determine training needs and provide training or opportunities for training within time and budget.Prepare bid specifications for materials, supplies and equipment purchases, submit weekly & monthly progress reports, and attend meetings as required.
  • Perform related duties as necessary.

     

Job Requirements:
  • Technical diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of related construction or public works experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in budget preparation, personnel management, highway and bridge construction and maintenance, equipment maintenance, hand tools, road and shop safety, record keeping, and communicative skills
  • Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the maintenance, repair and construction of roads, highways, bridges including safety precautions
  • Ability to determine time and materials necessary to complete tasks
  • Ability to excel in a team-oriented, and customer-driven environment
  • Ability to assign and supervise the work of all personnel in an efficient and effective manner
  • Ability to read and interpret associated state and federal regulations guidelines
  • Assertive and self-motivated
  • Ability to communicate well with fellow employees and the general public
  • Good reading, writing, math, job planning, administrative, and supervisory skills
