Plant Manager

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Administer the technical and managerial aspects of the Plant Department, including those of the quarries, asphalt plants and batching plants.
  • Manage fleet, including life cycle planning, setting rates, and budget preparation for a large diversified fleet of vehicles and equipment.
  • Maintain a schedule of project equipment requirements and dispatch required equipment.
  • In charge of conducting all preventative maintenance, repair and O/Hauling of large fleet of Road and Bridge Construction equipment.
  • Establish and manage preventative maintenance program and repair standards for all classes of vehicles and equipment.
  • Forecast spare parts requirements, prepare and implement maintenance schedules, and provide technical support and logistics.
  • Responsible for requisition and maintain inventory of spare parts.
  • Review and monitor the cost and repairs of equipment, and propose procurement of necessary plant and equipment based on project requirements and available resources.
  • Prepare estimates for the maintenance facilities and for the replacement of vehicles and equipment.
  • Supervise and lead the technical crew of Plant Engineers, supervisors, technicians…etc, and implement the team spirit within the department.
  • Report directly to the Plant Director/COO.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering, a further degree in management is a plus
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in repair, maintenance and management of large road construction fleet of equipment
  • At least 5 years in similar position with proven record
  • Electrical technology Knowledge is a plus
  • Previous Training in Caterpillar heavy equipment, Mercedes Trucks and Hydraulic systems is a plus
  • Leadership skills, computer literate
  • Willing to work in Africa
